George Phiri has 15+ years of extensive experience in Human Resource Management, public relations, cultural exchange programs, media relations and managing information resource centres.
Having worked as a Human Resource coordinator particularly in scheduling, assigning, and reviewing of the work of employees and volunteers, authorizing and coordinating vacation and overtime requests. He has monitored and evaluated staff performances, approved salary increments, heard grievances, and recommended disciplinary actions. He is Well experienced in developing HR policies and training materials and conducting training and orientation on a wide range of topics.
He has worked as the Intervention Development and Anti-racism coordinator at MAX Ottawa where he worked to implement and evaluate interventions that aim to increase access and uptake of sexual health services within minority communities. He also helped ensure that the work at MAX is rooted in equity and social justice by making proactive efforts to reach out to minorities at the intersection of multiple inequities, including newcomers and refugees, Indigenous, racialized, trans, and those living with disabilities.
